NOTE: I created this blog in order to document a pseudo-scientific experiment that I conducted on myself in the spring of 2008 in an attempt to understand the influence of environment on political ideology. The blog never really met my expectations because I had trouble keeping up with the regular, thoughtful posts that I had envisioned in conceiving the project while simultaneously performing real scientific experiments for my PhD. Nonetheless, I’ve left the original posts up, unedited, for posterity. Please peruse the site and let me know your thoughts.
I am a twenty-something, white, male liberal. Over the course of a two week period I will go against my normal inclinations and will consume only mainstream conservative media.
Throughout this process I will blog about my experiences and will discuss relevant psychological and neuroscientific findings in an effort to put my little experiment into a larger context. After the two weeks are up, I will try to evaluate whether the virtual environment I imposed on myself had any effect on my beliefs or opinions, either overt or subconscious. I hope that my experience will prove interesting for others and will stimulate discussion and debate in the comments.
It will probably make the most sense if you visit these posts in chronological order, starting with the Introduction linked to below (you can also use the calendar on the right for navigation):

I am really looking forward to this blog. I really think this is what is needed at this time in our election cycle and the history of this country. I really look forward to reading about why you decided to embark on this journey.
